The world's first!

The theme park of a toilet!

I found the article about the theme park that opened in Suwon of Gyeonggi-do, South Korea (close to Soul) on July 4^th.

There is a recitation about the former mayor who was called “Mr. Toilet”.

According to the article, he built a toilet house in 2007, and the park was made next to the house after he died.

There are some statues and different kinds of toilet, for example, a Korean toilet that is a thousand years old, toilet display of ancient Rome.

I wonder why he was called “Mr. Toilet”…

Round or Elongated toilet seat

I never cared if a toilet seat was round or elongated before I started to work at the Bathroom Store.

Before I was unaware of the shape of a toilet seat, I just felt the seat where I sat was more round than usual or same as usual.

One thought has occurred that why there are two shapes: Round and Elongated .

(Probably, in Japan there could be only elongated shape)

Allegedly, there are more round shapes in the East Coast such as NY and Boston than on the other coast, and on the other hand, there are more elongated in the West Coast such as LA and SF.

I’ve been to NY and Boston, and I guess the reason of the difference may be a size of rooms and houses.

In both NY and Boston, houses were narrow in width but deep in depth and height.

Actually, a bathroom in Boston was smaller than a bathroom in Los Angeles.

In general, houses along West Coast are larger having a garden or pool on their premises.

That’s to say, I can say that round seats suit small bathrooms more than elongated seats.

Amelia Earhart

Since July 3rd was the 75th anniversary for the disappearance of Amelia Earhart, various activities and events were held in the United States. An expedition set out from Hawaii to continue the search for answers to the mystery surrounding Amelia Earhart’s disappearance.

Our GM Alex, who has lived in Hawaii for 35 years, never knew about Amelia Earhart’s connection with the state of Hawaii, until he went back in August. While in Hawaii, Alex found proof of Amelia Earhart’s Hawaiian connection overlooking Diamond Head beach. There attached to a boulder is a plaque commemorating Amelia Earhart’s historic solo flight from Hawaii to Oakland California.

While people around the world know of Lindbergh’s solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean, Amelia Earhart’s solo flight is largely forgotten, except for this lone plaque. Though we may have forgotten her achievement, people in America must recognize that Amelia Earhart spurred equality for women in America by doing something she loved, flying.

So if your ever in Hawaii, and go to Diamond Head, enjoy the observatory, beach, and the wind surfing, but look around and you will see Amelia Earhart’s Plaque.

A little girl at a school toilet...

It’s HOT HOT HOT days...= scary tale.

I remember a toilet scary fairy tale from my childhood.
Whether it is true or not, I still do not use a public toilet even a sec.

The famous Japanese toilet scary fairy tale says, when you go to a third toilet,

A white hand comes out from the bowl and pulls you into the toilet.

Every region has different version of such a toilet tale.

It’s a kind of urban legend in Japan.

For example,

*) a little girl who always wears a red skirt, white shirts and bobbed hair whose
name is Hanako. she was abused by her mom. And she ran into her school toilet
but mom chased and found her, and then killed her.

*) during war, Hanako and her friend were playing hide and seek. When Hanako
was hiding herself in the toilet, the whole school building was bombed and
she was killed because of the bomb.

*) when you go to school toilets and you knock a door three times, you hear a response

from inside the toilet. Soon after that, you will be dragged into the toilet bowl.

And etcetera.

The stories have been transmitted by word of mouth in a certain way
"Answer is returned from the named Hanako”. A little girl wearing a red skirt with
bobbed hairs is the most famous icon in Japanese urban legend among school children.

NEOREST Brothers

We have three kinds of Washlet built-in type toilets which are called NEOREST.NEOREST has no water tank on top of it and look smarter than other conventional toilets.

I think Japanese people are used to one of NEOREST functions which used to surprise American people. The function is the auto-opening/closing lid function.

As people who have never been to Japan come to our store and walk by NEOREST,

the lids open suddenly and they get surprised at the sudden motion.

With NEOREST Brothers, we will go for the day they gets familiar.

Squat toilet(Japanese traditional style toilet)

Have you seen “squat toilet” ? or try it before?

It is typical traditional Japanese Toilet back in Japan.

Most of the big city and house has been changed to “sit down toilet”.

And most of you wondering “How do we do that? And Can it be if comfortable or not?”

But study shows that “squat toilet makes elimination faster, easier and more complete. This helps prevent "fecal stagnation," a prime factor in colon cancer, appendicitis and inflammatory bowel disease. this squatting also makes elimination more natural.

And good for pregnant women, squatting avoids pressure on the uterus when using the toilet. Daily squatting helps prepare one for a more natural delivery.

(I remembered my grandmother used to told me when I was little, “run to the bathroom when earthquake”. Because the bathroom in Japan, is the most narrow and covered with four-way wall, the smallest room. Whether it is true or just rumor, it only works the bathroom in Japan.)

America’s fastest texter

The competition was held in NY yesterday. A 17 year-old high school student won the 1^st prize $50,000 and won the title America’s fastest texter.

The competition tested three skills: Speed, accuracy and dexterity.

There were three rounds, including texting while blindfolded and texting with hands behind their backs.

A father of a girl who was watching the competition said it was pointless. I believe lots of people also could agree with the father that the contestants could have lots of time to waste.But I believe doing their best at anything is a great thing. Personally, I want to ask the champion what he thought and what actions he took to reach the summit.

Currently, we watched good news and bad news in the London Olympic games, where there are popular and minor competitions.

think athletes just should do their best regardless of the results, and should not feel any regrets if they fail. But business can’t end with self-satisfaction. So we’ll do our best today, too!
