Wouldn't you like to go to spa and away from everything, get relaxed a day?

But, who has time to head to a spa when one is lined up with a dozen tasks to do?

Don’t worry. check out the cocoon bathtub which is a mini spa with multi-functional

Poo-powered motorcycle and a global company

It ‘s a unique motor cycle which runs on human waste.
It is made for A TOTO  advertisement.

I think it’s very unique and humorous, which is “acceptable” for me.

It’s very interesting that the motor-cycle has a toilet bowl located
in the center of the motorcycle with a poo-shaped gadget on the helmet, which is a very impressing way to advertize TOTO itself.

But board members at their oversea branches are allegedly against this way of dvertising because the way using poop gadget could hurt TOTO’s brand image.

Nowadays a global company should have the sales strategies specialized for each overseas region, but we are in the period that the Internet easily and quickly spreads information all over the world.

The greatest common denominator should be required in terms of a brand image in the global period.

Lunchmate syndrome

Allegedly the syndrome is getting widespread among Japanese university students
and women in their 20’s, which is that “ the stress felt by school newcomers who,
finding it so troublesome or stressful to make new friends with whom they could
sit together for lunch in the dining hall or cafeteria began taking their meals into toilet cubicles”.  (Quote”Japan Today”)

When I was a college student 15 years ago, I was conscious about how I was
seen by people around me sitting alone at a school dining. But I didn’t feel like being
in a toilet cubicle. Toilet and toilet cubicles are not the place for a good and delicious meal.

It’s rather the place to diminish your appetite. Regardless of the reason for the syndrome,
I wish one day people could have more communication with each other, contrary to
the spread of email, cell phone and internet infrastructure.

Story of The Bath

There is a Japanese magazine called  “U.S. Front Line”. I found an article of “Story of The Bath”. Our business (Bathroom and Toilet) rarely come up in ordinary magazines.
According to the article, the catalyst that the people remodel their bathroom to Japanese style bathroom in America is that:
1st , they got or will get a baby.
     2nd, they will retire
The 1st reason is that they want to promote bonding with family by means of taking a bath with their children. And they want their children to know the tradition of Japanese bath.
The 2nd reason is that they don’t want to die without taking a Japanese “Ofuro (bath)”. It means that they want to enjoy their life with Japanese style bath.
Showers are enough to keep clean the body by crikey, but there are important functions with Japanese bath other than that. I think these 2 reasons above say so.
Spending time naked in the bath with family and promoting bonding with them,
And warming up our body, improving the circulation of the blood. These are good for our health.
It seems like that these are the unique custom of Japan.

We carry the Japanese tankless water heater that was in the article. Please come to see it at our showroom when you want it.

Toilet Revolution

I found a topic on line which caught my attention.”Toilet Revolution”.

Bill Gates, the Micro Soft co-founder, offered $3.4million towards
a Toilet Re-Invention Project that will improve the sanitary environment
in developing countries where sewage pipeline is non-existent.

Gates said “Globally 40% of the population do not enjoy the security of going to the toilet.”
To solve the problem, the project was established to find a toilet that can be used without water.

I believe low-flow toilets should be excluded from the project, but reducing and changing
dependence on water to flush is also one of the goals.

In the end if a water free-toilet(personally and hopefully produced by TOTO) can
be invented and distributed to those who lack running water/electricity,
then the death rate for people will start to be reduced.

Mr. Toilet

After I read the article about the toilet theme park, I searched about
the former mayor on the Internet, because I wonder why he was called Mr. Toilet.

He was born in the toilet of his mother’s family home and his passion about
the toilet was not your average. When he was the mayor of Suwon city,
he tried to change the toilet culture for the better.

And he became the first president of WTA (World Toilet Association).
He is the Mr. Toilet! The toilet house in the picture was his house!

Now, it is used as “Toilet cultural exhibition pavilion”.

The world's first!

The theme park of a toilet!
I found the article about the theme park that opened in Suwon of Gyeonggi-do, South Korea (close to Soul) on July 4th.
There is a recitation about the former mayor who was called “Mr. Toilet”.
According to the article, he built a toilet house in 2007, and the park was made next to the house after he died.
There are some statues and different kinds of toilet, for example, a Korean toilet that is a thousand years old, toilet display of ancient Rome.
I wonder why he was called “Mr. Toilet”…

Round or Elongated toilet seat

I never cared if a toilet seat was round or elongated before I started to work at the Bathroom Store.

Before I was unaware of the shape of a toilet seat, I just felt the seat where I sat was more round than usual or same as usual.

One thought has occurred that why there are two shapes: Round and Elongated .
(Probably, in Japan there could be only elongated shape)

Allegedly, there are more round shapes in the East Coast such as NY and Boston than on the other coast, and on the other hand, there are more elongated in the West Coast such as LA and SF.

I’ve been to NY and Boston, and I guess the reason of the difference may be a size of rooms and houses.

In both NY and Boston, houses were narrow in width but deep in depth and height.

Actually, a bathroom in Boston was smaller than a bathroom in Los Angeles.
In general, houses along West Coast are larger having a garden or pool on their premises.

That’s to say, I can say that round seats suit small bathrooms more than elongated seats.

Amelia Earhart

Since July 3rd was the 75th anniversary for the disappearance of Amelia Earhart, various activities and events were held in the United States. An expedition set out from Hawaii to continue the search for answers to the mystery surrounding Amelia Earhart’s disappearance.
Our GM Alex, who has lived in Hawaii for 35 years, never knew about Amelia Earhart’s connection with the state of Hawaii, until he went back in August.  While in  Hawaii, Alex found proof of Amelia Earhart’s Hawaiian connection overlooking Diamond Head beach.  There attached to a boulder is a plaque commemorating Amelia Earhart’s historic solo flight from Hawaii to Oakland California.
While people around the world know of Lindbergh’s solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean, Amelia Earhart’s solo flight is largely forgotten, except for this lone plaque.  Though we may have forgotten her achievement, people  in America must recognize that Amelia Earhart spurred equality for women in America by doing something she loved, flying.
So if your ever in Hawaii, and go to Diamond Head, enjoy the observatory, beach, and the wind surfing, but look around and you will see Amelia Earhart’s Plaque.
